My original impetus for writing these books, more than eight years ago, remains unchanged: to foster Canadian identity and unity by publishing character-driven novels that offer a revitalized portrayal of circumstances and events surrounding the birth of our nation.

Victor James Phillips holds a master’s degree in business administration from Queen’s University and built a career in international finance and commodity trading, which sparked his interest in geopolitical developments and world-changing events. Travelling widely, exploring history and culture along the way, he felt a need for greater connection with early North American history. Victor also enjoys golf and spiritual exploration. His historical-novel series Spinners of Destiny includes John Cabot - Commander (FriesenPress, 2026) and Spinners of Destiny (FriesenPress, 2026), and he is currently writing a third book in the series. He lives in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
